Dr Arnab Pal

Hello I am Dr.Arnab Pal.I did my 2 year post-DO secondary DNB from this hospital between 2016 to 2018 and passed it in my first attempt. With all the latest ophthalmic equipments and infrastructure in place along with the up-to-date treatment protocols, this organisation proves to be the perfect grooming ground for any budding ophthalmologist.Unmatched exposure to cataract surgeries and other ocular surgeries/procedures coupled with academically rich teachers make it one of the best DNB programs in the whole country.Regular academic sessions of almost daily frequency helps in covering up the lacunas of one's academic knowledge. They are aptly supplemented by quarterly theoretical and practical assessment exams to go hand in hand with FAT exams of DNB curriculum. So if one aims to fulfil their dream of acquiring the coveted DNB degree along with one of the very best surgical hands-on exposure, this is DEFINITELY the place. I am Dr.Arnab Pal and I successfully completed my long term Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus fellowship from this organisation under Dr.Anuradha Chandra,MS,FAICO.It was an enriching experience under Dr.Chandra both academically and surgically. Not only did I gain adequate clinical exposure in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus,I became confident in my abilities to diagnose and treat any neuro-ophthalmological emergency and disorders.I also became adept at medical management of glaucoma under the able guidance of Dr.Chandra.Surgical exposure during the fellowship was adequate with abundant supervised and independent paediatric cataract surgeries and squint surgeries. It also gave me the opportunity to observe the nitbits of paediatric glaucoma management from close quarters. The fellowship also provides it's fellows enough opportunities to pursue active clinical research and encourages them for publications and presentations in national and international forums.Overall it is one of the best paediatric ophthalmology fellowship in the country at this moment.

Dr Priyansha Chatterjee

Hello, I am Dr Priyansha Chatterjee and this is the story of my journey in Susrut Eye Foundation and Research Centre. I had just completed my PG and was completely at a loss as to which path my career is going to take. I believe its a moment of lull in every Doctors career path when we realise that now we have to make a transition from being students observing our teachers and mentors to actually being the Doctor who is solely responsible for her patients. There is a mixture of fear and uncertainty, wether we are equipped enough to face the real world. And with this uncertainty I joined Susrut as a Cataract fellow and trainee. However, my training period was nothing short of a life changing experience. From handling patients in the OPD, to performing simple to complex cases in the OR , from learning new things in Ophthalmology everyday to getting the opportunity to present in various state and national conferences, my journey was beautiful. Under the unmatched guidance of my mentor and guru Dr RC Paul I became mindful and extremely confident of the job I was meant to do. Today as I work as a Consultant in the Cataract Services of this esteemed institute, I can proudly say that I am fully able to undertake every challenge that comes my way. This institute is a gem to further one's career and continues to give me endless opportunities to grow as an Ophthalmologist and a Cataract Surgeon. I am thankful to be a part of this family.

Dr Fariha Tahsin

I am Dr. Fariha Tahsin. I have done my fellowship in Cornea and Cataract from Susrut Eye Foundation and Research Centre under the guidance of Dr. Sayan Das. Opting for this fellowship has proved to be the best decision and the most important landmark of my life. I will always be indebted to this institution. The working environment, hands-on exposure, and support of all the consultants during training at Susrut Eye Foundation is unmatched. The fellowship comes along with a career planning program which is very helpful. I’ll forever be most indebted to Dr. Sayan Das for the training I received from him, for all the opportunities he gave. I am very grateful for the patience he had during my training, and for the continuous support I receive from him even in my practice. He is undoubtedly the Mentor of my life. To people who get very less surgical exposure during their post-graduation, I will highly recommend Susrut Eye foundation and Research Centre for fellowship cum career planning program. My experience at Susrut is the greatest blessing of this life. And I am very proud and grateful to be a part of the Susrut family.

Dr Mainak Raychaudhuri

Hi, I have done my long-term cataract fellowship from Susrut eye foundation and research centre, Kolkata, and was positively overwhelmed by the amount of exposure and hands-on that I have received. This has instilled in me a sense of confidence, humility and discipline which I can carry forward in my journey ahead. I am extremely grateful to Dr. RC Paul and my mentor Dr. Alok Agrawal for providing me with both the opportunity and the guidance. It brings me great pride to be a part of the Susrut family. Dr Swati Kumari

I am Dr. Swati and I began my journey in Susrut eye foundation & research centre in the year 2019, just after finishing my post graduation. Before coming here, I was totally confused which way to go. But after joining, I realised this was the best decision .The advantages of being a trainee here are innumerable. Be it clinics or surgical hands on, work culture or academics, we can count on every single faculty in the institute. Their knowledge has been boon to me. I pursued my long term fellowship in Cornea, cataract and refractive surgeries under the guidance of Dr. Sayan Das, Head of the Cornea department. He is a skilled surgeon, amazing teacher and a source of inspiration. The way he teaches his fellows and residents I doubt whether one can get a better mentor than him or not. I will always be grateful to him. Because of his unmatched and excellent training, I am confident today. At present I am working as a consultant in this institute but my learning continues. I am getting constant support from Dr. R C Paul and Dr. Sayan Das, who are helping me to grow further. They are always available in the hour of need. I can proudly say that with every passing day I'm growing into a better clinician and surgeon and will be able to pass this legacy to my juniors. I feel lucky to be the part of Susrut family, and I am grateful to each and every person in the Susrut family for making me who I am today.

Dr Nada Nadeem Ansari

Susrut Eye Foundation and Research Centre (SEFRC) has been instrumental in helping me carve a niche for myself in the medical fraternity. It proved to be a perfect decision to pursue a Cataract Fellowship under the able guidance of Dr. Ratish Chandra Paul. The precise application of the theory in diverse clinical situations along with the development and improvisation of surgical skills provided a holistic framework for me to grow as an ophthalmologist. The heartfelt acknowledgement towards this institute and my mentors remains incomplete without a special mention of Dr. Ratish Chandra Paul. His work ethics, surgical and clinical skills with a practice of evidence based medicine instilled enough confidence in me to be able to do the same without any doubt. His constant encouragement to participate and present seminars at various national forums has given an extra edge to my career. The way he simplifies the most complex situations and clinical scenarios just exemplifies his expertise (in Ophthalmology and beyond) and always inspire all around him to keep growing and improving under all circumstances. I have learnt a lot from him but mostly how to be an empathetic human being, which consequently helps one grow as a good and, over a course of time, a better doctor. I myself, Nada Nadeem Ansari assures you by the word of mouth that it has been an incredible experience for me so far, and I would strongly recommend SEFRC Fellowship Programme to my juniors who wish to clearly excel.

Dr. Soumava Mandal

Everyone needs finished product. But who will finish the product! So here is an institution giving platform to young surgeons like us to flourish under guidance of some great teachers. I had started my journey in this institution as a secondary DNB trainee after completing DO from RIO, Kolkata. Plenty of surgical exposure with good academics under Prof. Asim Dey sir & Dr. R.C.Paul sir made me confident both theoretically and surgically. So after passing DNB I didn’t look for any other institute to upgrade myself further. So I had appeared in interview and selected for long term vitreo-retina fellowship. After selection I discovered that this was a life changing decision for me as I got opportunity to learn niceties of vitreo retina field under some great teachers like Dr. Aniruddha Maiti sir, Dr. Sangeeta Roy mam, Dr. Prasenjit Mondal sir. So this institute has nurtured me from a budding ophthalmologist to a vitreo retinal surgeon. Now I am working as a Vitreo retinal consultant here and still I am getting help from my mentors in any doubts which is beyond imagination in other institutes of india. Now I am a proud member of susrut family and will remain so for the rest of my life.
